I am Mona Talal, an artist and craftswoman, and I am the owner of (Bazaari in My Home), the first shop of its kind in the Kingdom of Jordan, which sells numerous handicrafts and art pieces made from recycled materials. I came from Kuwait as I was on a medical trip with my husband, but God willing, he passed away, along with my father on the same month. Consequently, I lost my residency abroad and every possession of mine. Therefore, I remained alone in an area far from the capital, leaving me with no financial nor human resources. With everything that was happening to me, it pushed me to enter a stage of depression, but with hard will and perseverance I overcame this ordeal and searched for a career that I’m passionate about, in order to develop myself and find a sou. I also added a productive kitchen, for the guests can have the impression that they’re staying in a diverse guest home thanks to the addition of a kitchen that will cater to both visiting tourists and local tourist groups.
And I've come to the conclusion that the best way to market my work is to run my own bazaar. In order for everyone to profit from the process of recycling, another one of my goals is to conduct educational seminars explaining the mechanics behind the process. I am also eager to explain the concept of the bazaar, its beginnings, and the challenges that I faced from the start, as well as the difficulties that I faced throughout my move from my place of residence and my collaborations in numerous bazaars. I am also eager to offer and transfer my experience entering this career, everything I’ve learnt In order to transform raw materials and waste into antiques and works of art, I’ve made use of and recycled a wide variety of materials, including glass, plastic, cardboard, paper, iron, cans, plastic bottles, cloth, dried plants, and twigs, as well as everything else that came to mind.
