I am Fadia Faris Attia Al-Rabeeah, project manager of handicrafts made from banana leaf and halfa, from Al-Himma, Jordan
This project is funded by a generous grant from the Canadian government and implemented by the Royal Society for the Protection of the Marine Environment....The project aims at sustainable development and environmental preservation, as banana leaf peels are used to manufacture art masterpieces that are elaborately crafted.
And 60 women from the local community were employed... We went through many challenges, but with determination and persistence, we succeeded and excelled.

I was chosen to be honored as one of the inspiring success stories within the Theater of Inspiration initiative launched by the Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women’s Studies as part of the International Women’s Day celebration event (Nashmiyat Al-Hadab Celebration), which was held at Yarmouk University in joint cooperation between the Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women’s Studies and the Lutheran Union, and in the presence of the General Coordinator. The Government for Human Rights in the Prime Minister’s Office, Nazir Al-Awamleh, the Honorable Professor, President of Yarmouk University, Dr. Islam Massad, the Director of the Princess Basma Center, Dr. Nadia Hiasat, and a generous presence from the university and civil society organizations.
