The Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women’s Studies organized a training workshop for university students entitled “Personal Interview Skills and How to Make a Positive Impression on the Interviewer.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Maram Al-Abdallah from the Language Center.
The workshop covered several key topics, including the importance and types of job interviews, as well as their three main stages (before, during, and after the interview). It also addressed the essential preparations applicants should undertake to ensure proper readiness, in addition to persuasion skills, the importance of body language in creating a strong first impression, and adherence to appropriate professional attire and conduct as decisive factors in the success of job interviews.
The workshop also featured a range of interactive activities carried out by students through organized group work, aiming to enhance the practical aspect of learning and develop their communication and teamwork skills. This contributes to narrowing the gap between academic education and labor market requirements, and supports students’ readiness for professional integration with confidence and high competence.
In this context, the Director of the Center, Dr. Batoul Muheisen, emphasized the importance of this workshop in empowering university students and preparing them for a conscious transition from the academic environment to the labor market. She highlighted its role in strengthening students’ personal and professional skills and effectively utilizing them in job interviews, thereby enhancing their future employment opportunities in light of the highly competitive job market, which values talent and personal skills alongside academic specialization. This aligns with the University’s vision of graduating a knowledgeable generation equipped with the scientific and personal skills necessary to successfully engage in the labor market.
