Conclusion of the workshop “Women’s role in peace and community security”

The Assistant President of Yarmouk University, Dr. Rami Malkaoui, sponsored the closing ceremony of the workshop “The Role of Women in Achieving Peace and Community Security,” which was  implemented by the Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women’s Studies in collaboration with the Community Peace Center at the Public Security Directorate. The ceremony was attended by the Assistant Director of Preventive Security for Security Affairs, Colonel Mohammad Obaidat, the Director of the “Community Peace” Center, Major Omar Khlaileh, and the Center’s Director, Dr. Batoul Al-Mohisen.

Malkaoui emphasized the important and central role that the Community Peace Center plays by organizing many events and activities in collaboration with civil society institutions, aiming to raise awareness among community members about various political, social, and security issues.

And he pointed out the attention that Yarmouk University gives to activating the role of women in society in various fields, due to their important role in family upbringing and instilling moral and national values in their  children, thus reaching a generation of youth who are loyal to their homeland and leadership.

In his remarks, Obaidat pointed out the urgent security challenges facing communities in our current era, which require more intellectual solutions and demand that we all stand together to confront them with awareness, prioritizing the interests of the nation above all considerations. He emphasized the importance that the Public Security Directorate places on strengthening its partnership with various national institutions, especially universities, as they are the true partners in addressing all negative phenomena in society and protecting Jordanian youth intellectually from any foreign ideas.

He added that women are the way to the advancement of societies and the true measure for evaluating any community, and she is part  of the immediate solutions to face security and social challenges. Therefore, the fourth version of the workshop focusing on the role of women and family upbringing in combating extremism has been completed.

At the end of the ceremony, Al-Malkawi and Abidat handed out certificates to the participants in the course, totaling 25 participants.


The workshop was held over three days and covered several topics, the most important of which were extremist thought, preliminary predictions of extremist personality, the role of the family and community institutions in achieving social peace, and the effects of negative phenomena on society.
