The Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women’s Studies at Yarmouk University and the Jordanian Pathways Foundation for Development and advancement, in collaboration with the King Abdullah II Fund organized a training workshop titled “Party Work and the Political System of the Jordanian State and the Election Law.” This workshop was part of the “Training Academic Women on Party Work in Universities” project, and it was attended by the center’s director, Dr. Batoul Al-Muhaisen, Dr. Ahmad Al-Juraybi, and Raghad Rawashdeh from the Masarat Foundation.
And the activities of the workshop which lasts for two days and involves a group academics and administrators from the university, include a series of lectures. The first lecture is titled ‘Democratic and Political Participation of Women,’ presented by Dr. Ahmad Al-Juraybi, who talked about the concepts, foundations, and political areas cfor women.
The second lecture was titled “Party Structure,” in which it addressed the concept, elements, and roles of political parties in Jordan, as well as the basic system, resources, standards, and ideology of the parties.
The third lecture was titled “The Historical Background of Jordanian Women’s Political and Party Participation,” in which it discussed the legislative development and the reality and future of women’s political participation.
In the end of the workshop attended by the Deputy Director of the center, Dr. Tarek Al-Naser, there was an open discussion about what was learned and how to apply it in daily life.
